Lead or Follow, But Don’t Stand in the Way
Pointing fingers can show someone the way,
They can be raised to herald a new day;
But when they’re pointed in accusation,
They only serve to cause confrontation.
Should we have known the Attack would occur?
That more should have been done do they infer?
Was someone at fault they now want to blame?
With perfect hindsight it’s easy to aim.
But what purpose do these questions now serve?
Are they meant to help or just to unnerve?
Or do they hope their own selves to enhance?
By pointing out faults in another’s stance.
If lack of preparedness is the crime,
Then at all of us they should point this time;
For as a Nation we were unwilling,
For checks and controls to be instilling.
Its easy now to see what we should have,
But at that time, not one of us would have;
At such great cost there are lessons to learn,
Now we’re ready our attention to turn.
Why now do you want to point and accuse?
More time and energy don’t we just lose?
Why not help find better ways to protect?
That’s a better role that we could respect.
You can take the lead, or follow along,
But don’t block the way, pointing out old wrong.
Signed by just a simple man,
Known to most folks as just dan.
